Praying Alumni Ladies
The PAL program (Praying Alumni Ladies) was formed to give alumni an opportunity to help encourage and mentor the incoming pledges to Stewart. Each year, we have made small improvements and hope you will join us for another great year!
PAL (Praying Alumni Ladies) Program
Defining Verse
“For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers. I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.” Ephesians 1:15-19a
Our most exciting development is the selection of a defining verse for the program. This verse clearly states not only the importance of prayer but also demonstrates by example the importance of the “letter” being written to encourage the recipient. The PAL Program is an opportunity for Stewart Alumni who meet the criteria listed below to be charged with this verses’ example for mentoring a pledge. The number one duty of a PAL is to pray for their assigned pledge throughout pledgeship. Below is a complete list of responsibilities expected of all PAL participants:
- PRAY (as much as possible!) for your pledge
- Read weekly email from Alumni Chair (this will give you a general update and prayer requests)
- Encourage your pledge occasionally by snail mail, email, a scripture, a free e-card, phone call, or care package
- Congratulate your pledge on exciting pledgeship achievements (getting their serenades approved, winning serenade competition, pledge project, activation, etc.)
While the encouragement and congratulations are suggested, they are not required and they are not the main goal. Prayer is the focus, anything above and beyond that is your choice and will be an unexpected surprise for your pledge.
Due to the challenges and time commitments of pledgeship, we do not want the PAL Program to become a burden to the pledges. Therefore, the pledge’s responsibility is simply to receive your prayers and encouragement. The pledges are encouraged to respond and be open to sharing prayer requests, but it is not an expectation. Please understand that by participating in this program, you may or may not have the opportunity to develop a relationship with your pledge. Our intent in starting the program during the summer, prior to the start of pledgeship, is that a foundation can be made before they arrive on campus. Hopefully this will encourage them to interact with you throughout the fall.

This information will be used in the pairing process and will then be given to your pledge to her help to get to know you better. Sometime in late June we will be mailing each PAL their packet which will include their pledge’s information and the praying can begin!
